Even though the rift in FIST has caused consistent problems over the past several weeks, there was a shining bit of optimism. With Icacrus attempting to make everything go smoothly, FIST remained united, up until tonight, that is. In a six-man showdown, FIST took on the Special Envoy, but a miscommunication led to Johnny getting rolled up by Frightmare. Johnny was quick to place the blame on Sugar Dunkerton, laying him out with a Superkick, before Icarus speared Johnny. Infuriated, Johnny loudly proclaimed he was done with the group, perhaps officially leaving FIST?

We’ll be sure to update you as time goes on!

In a match that the world certainly isn’t ready for, Xcite Wrestling has announced numerous first round matches that will imminently crown their first ever champion. The potential show-stealer? Adam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano – two of the most talked about and appreciated independent wrestlers. Here’s what Xcite had to say:

This is why Xcite is as good as we say we are. What happens when you take two of the best wrestlers in the world and put them in the same ring? You have one of the best matches in the world and definitely one of the potentially best matches ever held in the Binghamton region. In the tournament for the Xcite Heavyweight Championship its seed 1 vs seed 2. The Winner Johnny Gargano, returns to Xcite Wrestling after successfully defeating Matt Hardy in his debut match. Adam Cole shined at the last Xcite show in his Xcite debut. Both men are world traveled and held championships in just about every company they have worked. Now they both want to be the first Xcite Wrestling Heavyweight Champion! You have to be at the American Legion Post 80 (76 Main St, Binghamton, NY) on May 10th to see what will be an awesome match. And this is just the opening round! Tickets are available at the American Legion from now through May 10th.

CIMA starts us off against Swann, and they shake hands before getting down to business, trading wristlocks and going to the mat for some pinfall and reversal attempts. CIMA tages Swann back to the mat and wrestles circles around him, but Swann fires CIMA into the ropes and gets taken down with a shoulderblock. They go back and forth and Swann dropkicks CIMA out to the floor, Swann feints a dive but bounces back into the ring and gets chopped into next week by EITA. Ricochet comes in and unloads on EITA with some kicks and then tries a couple of quick pinfall attempts to no avail. Another back and forth and Ricochet tries a cartwheel something, but EITA baseball slides him in the face in a nice counter. Now Tomahawk T.T. comes in for the first time in the match to go at it with Gargano, he goes for a couple of his namesake chops, Gargano avoids a few but Tomahawk finally connects with a pair of chops and then runs Gargano over with a shoulderblock. Tomahawk sets up for a hard chop in the corner, but Ricochet makes the save and dishes out a chop of his own and then tags out to Swann before Tomahawk can retaliate.

CIMA and EITA hit a double dropkick to Swann for 2, but Swann chops EITA and brings him back to his corner so he and Ricochet can hit a series of double teams on the youngster. EITA nails Ricochet with a couple of chops of his own and then hangs him on the ropes so CIMA can come in with a double stomp and a senton for 2. Swann turns the tables and gets CIMA in the corner for a ten punch count and a rolling senton for 2. CIMA gets Swann back in his corner and Swann is in trouble now, taking a series of triple team charging strikes in the corner from CIMA’s team. Tomahawk gets a delayed vertical suplex on Swann for 2, then EITA tags in and they just destroy Swann with stereo chops and kicks, floowed by a double flapjack and stereo basement dropkicks for 2. CIMA’s team is in firm control as the captain comes in to stretch Swann out with a surfboard, leaving him open for more chops from EITA and Tomahawk. CIMA picks Swann up in an awkward, upside-down kind of stretch and EITA lays in another chop to the chest, then EITA and Tomahawk hit more killer charging chops in the corner and a Doomsday lungblower for 2. That was a hell of a creative spot! Tomahawk goes to the second rope, but Swann hits a leaping enziguiri and a top rope Frankensteiner, followed by a double Ace Crusher for EITA and CIMA, and the tag is made and we all know what starts now.

Gargano and Ricochet get EITA and CIMA in opposite corners and take turns charging back and forth with forearms, Gargano spears EITA through the ropes and Ricochet comes in with a rolling senton for 2. CIMA comes off the top but Ricochet sees him coming and dropkicks him on the way down. Ricochet with a shooting star press to Tomahawk for 2, then he goes for Hertz Donut but EITA missile dropkicks him and starts hammering in some chops until Gargano hits EITA with a clothesline, then everyone starts throwing one hard strike after another too fast for me to keep up with, and the crowd is on their feet as all six men are down.

Ricochet is up first and slams Tomahawk, then goes up top to try the 630 but gets crotched on the top rope by EITA, who takes his time before walking the ropes and hitting a Frankensteiner, followed by Meteora from CIMA. CIMA hits Schwein on Ricochet but only gets 2. Tomahawk hits an inverted Razor’s Edge on Ricochet, EITA moonsaults Swann on the floor, and CIMA hits Meteora again for 2. Now CIMA and Gargano are face to face and start trading chops, and the fans are on their feet as they hammer each other. CIMA superkicks CIMA, Gargano lariats and superkicks CIMA, CIMA goes forSchwein, Gargano counters to HErtz Donut and gets CIMA in the Gargano Escape, but Tomahawk breaks it up before CIMA taps. Gargano superkicks EITA and hits Hertz Donut, Swann hits the triple jump 450, Ricochet hits the 630 and covers EITA for the win.

Winners: Johnny Gargano, Ricochet & Rich Swann

Now Ricochet gets a shot at either the Open The Freedom Gate Title or Open The United Gate Title whenever he wants. Gargano calls CIMA back into the ring and says that when this promotion started, it was all about the Dragon Gate six man and CIMA was the highlight of all this, and CIMA caused the biggest turning point in his career, CIMA is his mentor and friend, and it’s an honor to be in this ring with him. Gargano says that Dragon Gate USA and the Open The Freedom Gate Title are on the same level as CIMA and the Open The Dream Gate Title. CIMA asks the fans if they want to see a double title match, and says he’ll bring his Open The Dream Gate Title next time. Jon Davis comes into the ring and lays CIMA out from the blindside, then flattens Rich Swann with a short clothesline. Gargano holds up a hand to tell Davis to stop, and Davis walks off. CIMA gets to his feet, but Gargano kicks him in the nuts, and when Swann asks Gargano what he’s doing, Gargano hugs Swann, superkicks him, then throws him out to the floor and rams him into the barricade. Gargano gets a strap and comes back into the ring and uses it to choke CIMA while mocking his “Did you like the show?” speech that CIMA does at the end of DGUSA shows. He tells the fans he did this for them, apparently believing himself to be the hero for doing this as the fans chant “f*** you Gargano” at him.

A big sorry for the delay in the update, but of course – of all weekends – my laptop crashed during the big Wrestlecon event. Fortunately enough, the weekend started off on a high note for Johnny Gargano – who went into EVOLVE 19 to team with a former opponent, Brian Kendrick, to take on two members of the Gentleman’s Club: Orange Cassidy and Drew Gulak.

Brian Kendrick & Open The Freedom Gate Champion Johnny Gargano vs Drew Gulak & Orange Cassidy

Cassidy tries to wake himself up as he slowly circles an incredulous Gargano. They tie up and Cassidy falls asleep, so Gargano goes for a quick cover and Cassidy kicks out at 2. Cassidy staggers into Gargano for a weak shoulderblock, then gets a side headlock and falls into Gargano with another weak shoulderblock. He tells Gargano to hit the ropes and goes for a couple of wild swings, but Gargano knows they’re coming and manages to avoid them. Gulak tags in and asks for Kendrick, then plays mind games by ducking around Kendrick’s shots and then nailing him from behind when Cassidy distracts him. Cassidy, Gulak, and the Swamp Monster triple team Kendrick to no apparent repercussions from the referee, so Kendrick gets a microphone and tells Gulak and Cassidy to stop wasting his time and to hit him in his face.

The Gentlemen’s Club fires up and beat Kendrick down, but whip him into his own corner and he tags Gargano in. Gargano ducks down and sends Cassidy out to the floor, then nails Gulak with a kick to the head and a spear through the ropes before charging across the ring and wiping Cassidy out with a dive through the ropes. Gargano springboard back inside with a DDT on Gulak for 2, Gulak gets a chinbreaker and nails Gargano with a clothesline, then takes a swing at Kendrick before tagging Cassidy in. Cassidy slams Gargano and then stumbles off the ropes into a cover on Gargano for 2. Gulak comes in and slams Gargano onto the ropes for 2, then Cassidy comes in with what can only be described as a passing-out headbutt to Gargano for 2. Gargano gets away from the Gentleman’s Club and tags in Kendrick, who cleans house on both Cassidy and Gulak. Kendrick whips Gulak into Cassidy and then gives Gulak an FU, then picks Cassidy up in a Torture Rack, Gargano superkicks Cassidy in the head, and Kendrick hits a Burning Hammer for 2.

Gargano gets a charging clothesline in the corner, then takes Gulak out as Kendrick hits a frogsplash for 2. Kendrick puts Cassidy on the top rope, but Cassidy fights him off and then nearly kills himself diving onto Gargano on the floor. Cassidy goes back up top for a passing-out top rope splash for 2, Gulak suplexes Kendrick into the corner for 2, Gargano comes in to try and make the save but gets dumped right back out to the floor. Kendrick slips out of a double suplex attempt, Gargano comes in and takes both men out with a DDT/Flatliner combo, but charges Cassidy in the corner and eats Cassidy’s boots. Cassidy hits a top rope DDT and then Gulak German suplexes Gargano. Cassidy hits a Michinoku Driver on Kendrick for 2, gets the head vice, but Gargano superkicks Cassidy in the face and then lawn darts him onto the second turnbuckle.

Gargano charges Cassidy and gets the orange mist in the face, then Gulak comes in and chokeslams Gargano into a backbreaker. Kendrick comes in and goes after Gulak, Gulak gets a backslide for 2 and then a victory roll for 2, the Swamp Monster has Kendrick from the outside, but Gargano takes him out with a dropkick. Cassidy charges Gargano and gets dropkicked out to the apron, and Gargano takes both him and the Swamp Monster out with a somersault dive. Kendrick hits Gulak with Sliced Bread #2, and that’s all she wrote.

Winners: Johnny Gargano & Brian Kendrick
