Mini Biography: Johnny Gargano's infatuation with wrestling skyrocketed at the age of eight-years-old, when he first stepped inside of a wrestling ring. Eight years later, the Ohio native would enroll in Cleveland All–Pro Wrestling's school, and since then the independent sensation has yet to quit. Making his professional wrestling debut in 2005, Johnny Gargano has since then torn through the independent wrestling world - making his name prominent in companies such as Dragon Gate USA and Chikara. Now he has made his way to WWE NXT, regularly teaming with good friend Tommaso Ciampa as well as being a competitor in the first ever Cruiserweight Classic. There is only one place for him - the top. Johnny Gargano is "All Heart" and has a long history to prove it.

It seems like just yesterday that WCA’s Race for the Ring started. But here we are now, heading to the finals of the tournament on January 18th, 2014!

.. Or are we? Before we think about the finals, we have to see if Johnny made it past the semi finals! It was him versus the ‘Greek God’ Papadon on December 7th and you can click through to see the results!

Great exchange leads to the first fall and Papadon scores it with a brainbuster. Papadon leads 1-0. Papadon nearly goes up 2-0 with a great flying uppercut off the middle rope. Gargano is bleeding from the nose after the uppercut and Papadon is getting cocky. Gargano fires up and hits his spear from the apron through the ropes for a near fall.

Gargano sets Papadon up across the middle turnbuckle and hits him with both knees in the midsection followed by a kick for a near fall.

Another great exchange has Papadon hit a TKO onto his own knee, Gargano has enough to deliver a kick, Papadon falls back into the ropes and hits a lariat. Both guys are spent.

Gargano leaps on Papadon going for the submission, Papadon reverses for a near fall, and Gargano scores with a flying rollup to tie it at 1-1.

Papadon absolutely destroys Gargano with a strike and both men struggle to recover from the beatings that have been delivered over the first 13 minutes of the match.

Gargano goes to the apron and hits a slingshot DDT for a near fall. Crowd is chanting this is awesome.

Papadon goes for a neckbreaker but has to release because his arm is injured.Gargano fires off with a superkick. He goes to the top and leaps right into a European uppercut for another great near fall. They have an exchange of pinfall reversals and after some more action scores with the Backlund Bridge for a 2-1 lead. Papadon frantically tries to score a pin as the seconds run down but fails. Fantastic!

Winner: Johnny Gargano 2-1

After the match Papadon shakes Gargano’s hand and tells him “you earned it.”

Kyle O’Reilly is one of the largest, and fastest rising stars in the independent scene today. A man who has impressed all over the nation with his work for ROH, and PWG, Kyle has made home in Saint Louis Anarchy, and tonight, he got to face one of the most prominent men in the independent wrestling scene. Johnny Gargano vs. Kyle O’Reilly was set to impress, and neither man disappointed.

Unfortunately, Johnny wasn’t victorious, but I suppose one could celebrate in yet another fantastic match, right?!

In a rematch from PWG, Johnny Gargano took on Kevin Steen in his home state of Ohio at AIW! Who won? Well, Johnny of course!

He defeated Steen and after Steen showed respect by shaking our favourite guy’s hand, the two were attacked by Louis Lyndon and Gargano’s old foe, Ethan Page!

With Lyndon vs Steen already booked, will we see Page vs Gargano soon? We shall see!

Returning to the independent wrestling scene to face one of wrestling’s current bests, Chris Hero came into quite the sticky situation with Johnny Gargano at DGUSA’s Freedom Fight 2013. On November 17th, the two men collided in a hard-hitting, classic bout. Numerous fans across the world let their voices heard on how much they genuinely enjoyed the match, but one moment alone stole the entire show…

After suffering a loss at the hands of the Young Bucks and Kevin Steen, Johnny looked to redeem himself tonight at 99 Problems! And redeem, he did! Though no winner was found, Johnny went on a 30 Minute Iron Man Match with Jason Axe, and both men refused to budge: causing the match to end with a time limit draw.

Ya’ win some, and ya’ lose some.

Young Bucks… Kevin Steen… Johnny Gargano, what more could you want?!

Surely, an all-out panda exhibit where everyone got to take home a cuddly guy, but nonetheless, this is wrestling. Independent wrestling’s “best tag team,” teamed up at 2CW with their Mount Rushmore brethern in Watertown, NY to take on Johnny Gargano and the OI4K. The Ohioans, unfortunately, suffered a loss to Mount Rushmore, but don’t you fear!

Johnny has a chance to go 1-1 for this 2CW weekend TOMORROW.

DGUSA Open the Freedom Gate champion Johnny Gargano vs. Maasaki Mochizuki

Gargano took the ring mic and asked who was ready for the roast of Johnny Gargano,  He  told Mochizuki that he looked like a funny guy and asked him if he wanted to roast him.  He said that this building isn’t big enough to host such an event and they will have to do it tomorrow.  He said the guest list is out of this world.  He claimed Barack Obama would be there tomorrow to show he “Obamacares” about Johnny Gargano.  Gargano then said, “Card subject to change.”

Gargano said he was personally inviting everyone to the most important event in the history of the world…and he’s also going to beat up Chris Hero.  Rich Swann came to ringside.  Gargano said that the roast is tomorrow.  Swann ripped the mic out of his hand and told him to never disrespect Queens, NY.  He said that tomorrow, he was going to roast Gargano good.  Jon Davis came out and attacked Swann and beat him to the back.

They finally rang the bell.  They had a feeling out process early.  Gargano nailed Mochizuki with a right and ran across the ring, celebrating with himself.   Mochizuki called for a test of strength, then kicked Gargano in the chest hard.  He missed several kicks and was nailed with an enziguiri.  Gargano was sent to the outside and landed on the apron.  Mochizuki came running with a hard kick to the back.

They battled on the floor.  Gargano whipped him into the ringpost.  Mochizuki regained control as they returned to the ring and worked over Gargano with a series of kicks.  Mochizuki controlled Gargano, focusing his attack on his leg and knee.

Mochizuki began kicking away at Gargano’s legs, taking him down.  Gargano tried to fight his way out of the corner but was drilled.  Mochizuki whipped Gargano into the corner.  Gargano fired back and nailed him, sending Mochizuki to the floor.  Gargano nailed a nice dive to the outside, drilling Mochizuki into the guard rail.

Returning to the ring, they battled back and forth.  Gargano locked in an armbar and tried to snap Mochizuki’s arm.   Mochizuki battles back and tries to suplex Gargano.  Gargano lands on his feet and pulls the ropes down.  Mochizuki goes to the floor.  Gargano goes for a pescado but Mochizuki moved and Gargano hit the floor hard.

Mochizuki hit a springboard kick.  Gargano cut him off and nailed a shoulderblock into the ring.  Mochizuki reversed a whip and nailed a big boot in the corner for a two count.

Mochizuki continued the assault, powerslamming him for a two count.They exchaned superkicks and strikes.  Mochizuki nailed a leg lariat.  Gargano came back with one of his own.  They were down and the crowd chanted for Dragon Gate.

They battled to their feet.  Gargano drilled him with a dropkick in the head.  Gargano spiked him into the buckles and locked on the Crossface.  Mochizuki fired back with some awesome offense and nailed a springboard kick for the pin.

Your winner, Maasaki Mochizuki!
