Johnny and Ciampa brought their ever lovely tag team to Jacksonville on August 27th, 2016 and wouldn’t you know, we’ve got the results below. Maybe they’ll be at your show some day soon?

DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) simultaneously tapped out NXT tag champions The Revival in a non-title match with their own respective submission maneuvers. Gargano had the leg worked on the whole match. These two groups were born to work opposite of each other. Incredible match. The Revival has mastered the little things. They are who they say they are: Top Guys. Top Guys jumped DIY after the match and went to break Johnny’s leg with the second rope stomp, but Ciampa stopped it and they hit the running knee/kick move on both to send the crowd roaring into intermission.

The last spot in the Quarterfinals  was up for grabs as Johnny Gargano took on T.J. Perkins. In the locker room before the match, Johnny Wrestling was seen having his knee taped up by trainers, a painful reminder of the loss he and Tommaso Ciampa’s suffered to The Revival at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II just four days prior … and a target for his opponent.

Perkins was quick in going after Gargano’s injured knee, stretching it with a Muta Lock early on in the match. Despite the injury, Gargano didn’t hold back, going after Perkins on the floor with a tope suicida and locking on a surfboard hold back in the ring. TJP’s confidence in his counter-wrestling never wavered; he eventually took back control of the match with a snug headscissors, followed by a dab to add insult to injury. Gargano turned the tables with a diving spear through the ropes, but each high-impact move he executed seemed to hurt his injured knee as much as it did Perkins.

Gargano’s fate may have been sealed while diving onto Perkins at ringside, when his injured leg slammed into the timekeeper’s table with a sickening thud. Johnny Wrestling fought valiantly, attempting to pick up TJP and launch him like a lawn dart into the turnbuckles, but his knee couldn’t support the weight at first. Gargano eventually succeeded, but the injury was too much to overcome. Perkins locked on a kneebar, and before the resilient Gargano could reach the ropes, he crossed his leg over, turning the submission into a hold he calls the TJP Clutch. The pain was too much for Gargano to bear; he had no choice but to submit.

The heartbreak was evident on Gargano’s face after the match, just as the elation was plastered over Perkins’. With the victory, the flashy Filipino moves on to face Rich Swann in the Cruiserweight Classic Quarterfinals, which start next Wednesday at 9/8 C, only on WWE Network.

With a new ethos – #DIY: Do it Yourself – driving them, Johnny Gargano &Tommaso Ciampa charged into battle for the most important match of their career. The two Cruiserweight Classic competitors were fighting with fire from the bell, as Ciampa forced The Revival into retreat after they felt the brunt of his vicious strikes.

Gargano tagged into the fight and targeted Dash Wilder’s shoulder, but soon felt the full force of The Revival, who trapped him their corner and worked him over. However, the spry Gargano scurried out of their clutches, setting off an all-out brawl that they came out on top of after Gargano took flight and Ciampa launched himself knee first to the arena floor.

Back in the squared circle, The Revival showed why they believe they are “top guys,” taking charge of the match with quick tags and double team maneuvers on Ciampa. The Sicilian Psychopath would not stay down, though Scott Dawsonyanked Johnny Gargano out of reach of a tag at the last second. The NXT Tag Team Champions used every trick in the book to keep a worn-down Ciampa in the bout, including Wilder feigning injury to distract the referee when Ciampa finally tagged Gargano.

But Ciampa’s adrenaline was at an absolute high as he shook off blows from Dash & Dawson and finally reached his partner. Gargano sprang into action, clocking Dawson with a rolling kick and neckbreaker as the sold-out Barclays Center exploded in chants of “Johnny Wrestling!”  A spear through the ropes nearly captured the titles for the DIY duo, but the wily champions stayed in the bout. Ciampa tagged in and locked on his patented armbar, nearly forcing Dawson to tap out, only for Wilder to break the hold.

Ciampa survived the Shatter Machine and nearly pinned Wilder after their superkick/knee strike combination, but Dawson slipped his partner’s foot on the rope, ensuring the match would go on. Dawson shoved Ciampa face-first into the ring post and then the NXT Tag Team Champions swarmed on Gargano in the ring, using the hold that put Big Cass on the shelf last year to weaken Gargano’s knee. Dawson pressed on, ensaring Johnny Wrestling’s injured knee in a reverse figure four that gave Gargano no choice but to tap out and retain the titles for The Revival.

After coming up short in a valiant effort, a heartbroken Gargano & Ciampa got back to their feet in the ring, taking in the applause of the sold-out Brooklyn crowd before heading to the locker room, Gargano apologizing to his partner.

After learning from Regal that they will challenge The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championship at TakeOver: Brooklyn II, Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa took on up-and-coming competitors Tucker Knight & Patrick Clark.

The talented tag team appeared to be as united as ever after their hellacious battle in the first round of the Cruiserweight Classic, swarming their opponents with an impactful offensive arsenal en route to victory.
